Four Borderers are setting off on Doddie'5 Drive; their challenge - to drive an old MK1 Shogun non-stop from Lands End to John O'Groats, via the Border Union Show in Kelso.
Doddie and two fellow Borderers are hitting the roads of Britain and driving an old Mitsubishi MK1 Shogun non-stop from Lands End, starting on Wed 25th of July, to the Border Union Show in Kelso arriving on Friday the 27th of July by way of John O’Groats and the North West 500 route. This is an approximate total distance of 1,350 miles. The team consists of Doddie Weir, Richie Gray, Alister Scott and Andrew Stirling. They will be stopping off on the way at Gloucester Rugby club and Glasgow Warriors and hope to add a few more running up to the event. The route takes us up the A30, M5, M6 and M74 to Glasgow and then the A9 past Stirling to Perth and on to Inverness and eventually John O’Groats. The North Coast 500 is a more challenging drive through Caithness, Easter Ross, Wester Ross, Sutherland and Inverness-shire.
