Doddie'5 Tartan Launch

Doddie celebrates the Calcutta Cup win in his new tartan.

What a remarkable weekend of Six Nations rugby and what a day to launch Doddie's very own tartan!

Doddie'5 Tartan has been designed to support My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. A percentage of sales of the cloth and items created using the design will go to the charity.

Scotland Shop's association with Doddie is a long and personal one stretching far back beyond making them making the tartan suits he is so famous for. The idea of a Doddie Tartan has been mooted for several years and the in-house designer at The Scotland Shop, Emily, was delighted when the big man said "Let's do it!" so the serious business of colour and sett design could begin.

The blue and white within the tartan are to represent the colours of Scotland, the black and yellow are the colours of Doddie's Borders club Melrose RFC.

"I have always fancied having my own tartan and it is great to be aboe to work with a local company like Scotland Shop in the Borders and know the design will help us with our goal of benefitting others who are fighting Motor Neurone Disease," said Doddie.

Doddie is the only man who will wear a suit in the Doddie'5 Tartan design but supporters can buy ties and tammie hats online at or in their Edinburgh store at 10 Queensferry Street in Edinburgh's west end.
