Cycling the Caledonian

Four former rugby players are planning to cycle from Campeltown to Highland RFC to raise funds for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.

Ruaridh Jackson, Ryan Grant, Richie Vernon and Andrew Easson are four retired rugby players who were keen to keep challenging themselves physically whilst giving back to charities close to them.

Ruaridh said: "With this in mind we have chosen My Name'5 Doddie Foundation as all the guys got to know Doddie throughout their careers and would like to add in some way to the already incredible work that he and the charity has been doing to date."

The second charity is Unite Against Cancer who Ruaridh has been an ambassador for for a number of years. They are a small family run charity which is completely voluntary and trying to pioneer the way in cancer research.

The challenge they have chosen is cycling the Caledonian Way - 34 miles over some amazing(and hilly) scenery.

Ruaridh says: "We have no cycling experience among us except for the Watt Bike that we have been savaged on in training in days gone by. So wish us luck!"
