Fiona MacKinnon from Glasgow has completed a 250 mile walking challenge to support the Foundation in memory of her friend and fellow optometrist, Shirley Cameron, who died earlier this year after being diagnosed with MND in 2019.

Fiona explains: "I decided to undertake a fundraising challenge in memory of my friend, Shirley Cameron."

"After reading about Doddies 50th birthday, I thought of walking 5 miles for 50 days. I completed the 250 mile challenge in 6 weeks."

"I met Shirley 25 years ago when she was considering a career in optometry, and asked my advice. Since then we were best of friends. She was such a warm, kind, funny, clever, talented woman. Her passing is an immense loss. She leaves her husband Derek and their 3 teenage sons. Shirley and Derek spoke of the support from Doddie's foundation, and I know she would be keen to raise funds to help in research for a cure for MND."

A brilliant effort Fiona, many thanks!
