Sheena's wildlife calendars are a soaring success

My Name'5 Doddie Foundation are lucky to have many wonderful fundraisers, all of whom contribute to our vision: A World Free of MND in their own way - from bake sales, to rowing the Atlantic.

One such fundraiser is Sheena Ramsay, an incredibly talented photographer, who has been selling calendars featuring her photos of wildlife in support of the Foundation for several years now.

Below, Sheena tells us about her fantastic fundraising endeavours in her own words:

"Wildlife photography is my hobby and something I am very passionate about, and it’s as much about the wildlife as it is the photography. Our beautiful countryside and numerous small and often remote islands provide wonderful opportunities to capture our native species.

"Three years ago I created my first calendar for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, having met the inspirational Doddie twice and having lost a grandparent to motor neuron disease. Doddie’s sheer determination to raise awareness of the disease and his cheeky smile pulled me in the direction of the Foundation."

"I select wildlife photographs taken throughout the seasons including hares, puffins, ospreys, otters, squirrels, red grouse, and stags. My 2023 calendar also includes a woodpecker photograph entitled ‘Mistaken Identity’, reflecting the incident on the British Lions Tour, when Doddie was accused of being out when he should have been under curfew."

"Calendars are sold locally with thanks to friends and family and local businesses, and I advertise them through Facebook which often requires me to post calendars all over the world.

"The total raised is now in excess of £6,400, topped up further with my annual entry in to Doddie Aid, and I will continue to support this wonderful foundation and hope that someday Doddie’s wish will come true, when a cure is found for motor neuron disease."
