Glasgow artist Steven Hart, who is living with motor neuron disease (MND), is gearing up to present a major exhibition of his work next week, whilst raising funds and awareness for MND at the same time.

IN YOUR FACE, showing at The Glue Factory in Glasgow from 31 August to 3 September, brings together over 100 pieces of Steven's work from the past 15 years.

Steven's work focuses on creating multi-layered portraits with collage and photo montage elements. He layers images by hand, assembling complex and colourful backgrounds, and uses a variety of mediums such as pencil, coloured pencil, fine-line pen, graphic marker, acrylic paint, inks and cut and layered paper.

Some of Steven's work, featuring portraits of: Eddie Vedder, Kate Bush, Joe Strummer, Stevie Nicks, Jim Morrison, Chris Cornell, Debbie Harry and Myles Kennedy.

Steven, an artist, screenwriter and former Art, Design and Illustration lecturer, was diagnosed with MND in 2020. Despite the challenges of living with the disease, he has continued to pursue both with his art and screenwriting, and has earned international recognition for his screenplays in recent years.

IN YOUR FACE will display a collection of vibrant mixed-media portraits of rock and pop stars, sporting heroes and movie idols, all created in Steven's distinctive Pop Art style, including 15 works he has produced since his diagnosis.

The official opening evening on Tuesday 1 September (attendance by invitation only), will feature a live auction hosted by TV presenter and antiques and art expert, Natasha Raskin Sharp. The auction will include original artworks by Steven along with signed prints of our founder Doddie Weir, as well as Jimmy Johnstone and Fernando Ricksen - three sporting figures who also lived with MND and left an impact on the community by raising awareness of the disease.

All proceeds from the auction will be shared between us and MND Scotland, helping to support those affected by MND, as well as funding vital research.

More information about the exhibition can be found here. It is free to attend, with donations welcomed, and Steven's signed prints of Doddie, Jimmy Johnstone and Fernando Ricksen will also be available for attendees to purchase, to raise further funds for the charities.
