Looking for some culture this May Day bank holiday? Ancrum has the answer.
This beautiful Borders village will be welcoming Art@Ancrum for another year, introducing visitors to three full days of local artists and artwork. Visitors can expect a wide variety of professional art and design-led work available to view and purchase. A mix of 35 established and new artists and makers will participate in the exhibitions and demonstrations over the bank holiday weekend.
The event will include paintings, illustrations, ceramics, textiles, wood, sculpture, jewellery and more. The artwork can be found in 11 different venues including artists' studios, the village hall, rustic outbuildings, and even the Bowling Club.
Local pub, the Cross Keys, will also be full of art as it will also house a special exhibition called Absent Friends containing work by artists who cannot attend in person, but whose work is respected and admired by the community.
This year the chosen charity is the "My Name’5 Doddie Foundation". To raise money for the cause there will be collecting cans dotted around for contributions. And teas, coffees, cakes and scones will be served in the Village Hall thanks to the Roxburgh Federation of SWI.
The art extravaganza will be held from Saturday, May 4 to Monday, May 6. Open from 10am to 5pm daily.
