The tranquillity of the East Lothian village of Gifford and surrounding area was briefly shattered as it pulled together to support My Name’5 Doddie Foundation with a sold out 3-band gig in the Village Hall on Saturday 27th July.
Gifford band “Yester Daze” were supported by Portobello bands “Strictly Forth Street” and “The Bath Street Kidz” in providing 5 hours of music of a certain vintage to an audience of 80 people of a certain vintage! Covering Bob Dylan to The Stranglers, to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Simple Minds, the bands pulled together a great combined series of sets to send the boisterous crowd home happy.
The event was hugely supported by local businesses and individuals contributing to a money-raising raffle comprising c.50 prizes of all sizes and value ranging from 4-ball golf rounds in various East Lothian courses to meals and high tea at a number of hotels and cafés, a holiday weekend in North Berwick to bottles of locally produced whisky, gin and cider and many more prizes in between. The raffle, allied to a hard-pushed cash bar on the night plus ticket sales raised £2,000 for Doddie’s Foundation.
Everyone at My Name'5 Doddie Foundation sends their thanks to the Gifford community and especiially Ronnie Galloway who worked so hard to bring everyome together and make the evening such a success.
