We were delighted to benefit from a successful fund raising event last week organised by the Guernsey Event Company. The dinner raised £17,000 for the Foundation and MND Guernsey.
Doddie was unfortunately not able to join us following a fall which punctured a lung so meant he couldn’t fly. However, his brother-in-law Doug Mundell, fellow Scottish international and Foundation Trustee Gary Armstrong and England World Cup winner Iain Balshaw more than made up for his absence with John Inverdale keeping them all in check.
An auction with Scotland and Foundation memorabilia and a trip to the Calcutta Cup along with a raffle was generously supported and rounded off a fantastic evening of rugby stories; Iain’s experience of being Mike Tindall’s best man and meeting the Queen…; countless stories about Doddie and Gary on and off the field; the extraordinary way Doddie is facing MND; and the strides the Foundation is making into research for a cure.
Many thanks to all involved in this successful event.
