Hardy Cyclists Brave Rain to Ride for Doddie

Wellies may have been more suitable than cycling shoes on Sunday but around 550 hardy cyclists braved the heavy rain to complete three different distances in this year's Doddie'5 Ride.

Doddie and his wife Kathy joined the hundreds of riders who set off from Melrose RFC on Sunday morning. Our friends, the Brennans, were among the many who had travelled from across the country and beyond to support the Foundation by getting on their bikes. Volunteers at the Borders rugby clubs welcome the cyclists as they made their way over the 90, 60 or 20 mile distances. The route was altered on Sunday morning in light of the conditions and flooding at Earlston.

A huge thank you to Peter and Trish Winterbottom and their team for staging the event in testing conditions and also many thanks to all the volunteers and supporters who acted as stewards and made it such a success.

We are assured that next year's event will be ridden in brilliant sunshine!!
