History of Doddie Aid

Founded in 2021 by Rob Wainwright, Doddie’s teammate and former Scotland captain, Doddie Aid was launched as an effort to raise funds for vital MND research and has since become a global movement.

Since 2021, our challenge has raised over £8 million for motor neuron disease research and over 120,000 people have logged more than 12 million miles collectively.

What is Doddie Aid?

Doddie Aid is an annual five-week exercise challenge. Starting 1 January every year, teams come together to raise funds for MND research by getting active. Run, walk, cycle, or even dance in the kitchen – if you’re moving, you’re making a difference.

All you need to do to take part is get the Doddie Aid app, register with a £20 donation and select a team to join. Team options include Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, and Rest of World. You’ll even get a snood to represent your team and My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Once you’re registered, participating is as simple as logging your miles in the app.

At the end of the five weeks, the team with the most miles per participant is crowned the winner!

Do Doddie Aid your way

Make this challenge your own. Whether you’re smashing a personal best on the bike or taking the scenic route with the dog, every mile counts. Set your own target, find your own pace, and be a part of something bigger.
