The community we have around us is invaluable in raising awareness and vital funds to support research to achieve a World Free of MND.
We often attend events, be it to man a merchandise stand, cheer on marathon runners or speak about MND and the work the Foundation does. We are looking for volunteers to help at and attend events as representatives of the Foundation.
As a Team Doddie volunteer, you will:

REGISTER MY INTERESTEach opportunity to volunteer with My Name’5 Doddie Foundation may be different from the next. You may find yourself manning a merchandise stall at a fair or sporting event, accepting a donation at a cheque presentation, selling raffle tickets or cheering Team Doddie runners on at a marathon.
You can let us know if there are any specific events you would, or would not, like to get involved with when you register your interest.
Volunteering roles with the Foundation are very flexible, and there is no required commitment to a certain number of hours or days volunteering over any period of time. Ideally, you will have some evening and weekend availability as we are so often supporting at events out with traditional working hours.
We will regularly share details of events coming up in your area and it is up to you which you kindly offer your time to support. Events could range quick half hour at a local club/organisation to accept a cheque and pose for a photo opportunity up to 5/6 hours (with breaks of course) helping to man a stand at the Royal Highland Show, for example.
Our Community and Volunteer Fundraiser, Mia, is always on hand to answer any questions you have about your role and upcoming events. After your initial expression of interest, she’ll be in touch to chat through the role and again to officially welcome you to our Team Doddie volunteer community. You’ll be invited to have a call, or meet in person where possible, with Mia for a brief info session and from there we’ll regularly keep you up to date with a volunteering opportunities and updates via a newsletter.
Absolutely not! Although previous experience may be useful, we welcome applications from people looking to build their skills or get involved in a charity for the first time. Essentially, so long as you are keen to get stuck in, enthusiastic and friendly, we would love to have you as part of the team. We will provide you with all the resources you need along with a briefing before each event.
If you are looking to take up a volunteer speaker role with us, we’ll also provide you with access to a speech outline and a pre-recorded video of this in action for your reference. This can be changed to fit your own personal style, and we are always on hand for you to have a practice run through to!
We will ask all applicants to provide 2 references, as well as to sign a volunteer agreement if you are going to officially join our volunteer program.
