Rugby League and fundraising legend Kevin Sinfield is once again lacing up his trainers to raise £777,777 for motor neuron disease (MND) charities with his 2025 7 in 7: Together Challenge.
Kevin is set to run seven ultra marathons in seven days across seven cities or regions, from 1-7 December. Each day will be broken down into 7km blocks that Kevin and his team must complete within one hour, before they set off on the next block on the next hour.
This year, Kevin and the team will visit new locations that could be overlooked by major events, so the MND community in each knows they are not forgotten. Hence, the name for this year’s challenge being 7 in 7: Together.
Each day of the challenge will also see the return of the Extra Mile event, where members of the MND community will join Kevin and the team to complete their own mile.
On Saturday 6 December, the penultimate day of the challenge, Kevin and his team will head north of the border to Scotland where they will run from the famous Carnoustie Golf Club into Dundee, finishing on the pitch at Dens Park before Dundee FC’s William Hill Premiership clash with Aberdeen kicks off.
Kevin and his team will run from Carnoustie, following the River Tay into Dundee and circling around the city before going through the centre and heading to the finish line at Tannadice Street.
Visits to Scotland have featured in the last three of Kevin’s epic annual challenges, inspired by his friendship with Doddie and the support Doddie gave to Rob Burrow after his diagnosis with MND in 2019. That bond continues to inspire Kevin and his team.
If you would like to cheer on Kev during his day in Dundee on 6 December, register your interest here. Your encouragement and presence will make a huge difference! (Please note you are not allowed to join the run itself for everyone’s safety and protection.)
Commenting on the latest challenge, Kevin said: “Scotland is always special for us and, having visited Edinburgh, the Borders and Glasgow, it will be lovely to come to Dundee. I’m looking forward to seeing Desperate Dan as I know we won’t be far from the finish then!
“I know it is a 3pm kick off against Aberdeen so we will be keeping an eye on the clock to make sure we get there in time. We have some wonderful partners for our challenge from Scotland who have been so generous in the support of our team and the MND community and we are very grateful. Naturally, Doddie will not be far from our thoughts all day. The penultimate day is always our toughest but I’m sure our memories of Doddie will keep a smile on our faces and hopefully the sound of some bagpipes as well will spur us on,” Kevin added.
Following the completion of day 6 in Dundee, Kevin will immediately head back to Yorkshire, to finish his 7 in 7: Together Challenge on Sunday 7 December in Leeds.
