Colin raising the bar for My Name'5 Doddie

25 February 2022

A Peeblesshire strongman is hoping to pull in support for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation by pulling no less than three truck cabs for 50 feet.

Colin hopes to raise £55,555 for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, after hearing of Doddie's diagnosis.

Colin worked for many years with Rock Steady Security and on a number of occasions he accompanied Doddie.

Colin was gutted when he heard the news that Doddie had been diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND). Because of the association and respect he had built up for Doddie, Colin felt compelled to help. He wanted to do something out of the ordinary and in the most effective way to raise funds for the charity Doddie had founded.

Colin started his planning, and training to perform a feat that no one else had undertaken. A car pull perhaps, tough for some, not challenging enough for Colin. So how about a bus pull? A tougher challenge still however, still not challenging enough. How about a truck pull?

And so ‘The MND Big Pull’ was born. Colin originally considered pulling a truck and trailer for at least 50 meters, however as time went on, he believed he could make this challenge even bigger and better. The MND Big Pull just grew legs or should we say wheels!

Therefore, Colin Smith is embarking on a strongman challenge like no other. Colin will pull not one, not two but three truck cabs and one HGV trailer. Colin originally planned to perform this feat in 2020 but as with all events, this had to be delayed due to the pandemic. However, Colin is back fitter, stronger and ready for the biggest challenge of his life.
