My Name'5 Doddie Foundation is proud to be Dalkeith Country Park's charity partner for 2024/25.
The two-year-long partnership is a commitment from the team at Dalkeith Country Park to support the Foundation’s work in funding vital research to find effective treatments for motor neuron disease (MND).
The park, which is based in Midlothian and borders the City of Edinburgh, has set up collection tins for donations at various till points across the site. This includes the Fort Douglas Adventure Playground and at the Restoration Yard’s store and eateries.
My Name’5 Doddie Foundation is also benefiting from many of Dalkeith Country Park’s flagship events. These include the Inception Art Show at Dalkeith Palace and the annual Easter Duck Race, as well as exciting new family-friendly events which are solely dedicated to raising funds for MND research.
Ross McGregor, Commercial Director at Dalkeith Country Park, said: “We are honoured to join forces with My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Doddie’s inspiring resilience and dedication to finding a cure serve as a beacon of hope for all those affected by MND. Through our partnership, we hope to make a meaningful contribution to advancing research efforts and improving the lives of those living with MND.”
Doddie Duck Race
May of 2024 saw the first Doddie Duck Race take place, as part of Dalkeith Country Park’s Easter events programme. Hundreds of charming yellow ducks took to the River Esk, racing downstream for the win. Local food vendors, Cold Town beer, face painting, live music and a raffle were also enjoyed by all visitors.
The event raised £4,874 for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and is due to return next year: “We’re thrilled to bring the Doddie Duck Race back in Easter 2025. It’s such a fun day for families and a great opportunity to help raise vital funds for MNDF!” Said Sophie Barr, Head of Attractions & Events at Dalkeith Country Park.
