Our Medical Strategy Lead, Sean McGrath, has been in Perth Western Australia to attend the annual international MND symposium.
Perth Australia, not Perth Scotland! Yes, the annual International Symposium on MND was held in the heat of Perth Australia and is the annual gathering of all the researchers and others interested in the latest science, research and clinical developments in the world of MND. Around 900 delegates attended the sessions at the Perth International Congress Centre including our Medical Strategy Lead, Sean McGrath, as well as most of our Scientific Advisory Board.
After the long flight home Sean commented “As a research focused Foundation it is important we had a presence at the most dynamic and prestigious research congress for MND. There is a lot to be encouraged about, from basic research, to data showing encouraging results in certain groups of patients being treated with a new antisense treatment, to exciting plans for large platform trials in the USA and Europe – something that the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation is at the forefront of. It was also valuable time to catch up with many of our advisors to discuss their progress with the work they are doing with some of our research funding and to meet other patients and supporters of our cause. Doddie’s ears must have been burning a lot!”
The next annual symposium is in a year’s time (December 2020) in Montreal, which promises to be a little cooler that it was in Perth!
