Following over 110,000 people signing Doddie's petition for the government to ring-fence £50 million over five years for a dedicated MND research institute, parliament debated the topic yesterday (Monday 12 July). Here is My Name'5 Doddie Foundation's response to that debate:
"Many thanks to the supportive cross party MPs who took part in today's parliamentary debate on MND research in response to the 110,000 name petition in Doddie's name. It was a powerful display of support for our approach to Government to invest £50 million over five years in targeted MND Research and the development of an MND Research Institute.
"We are pleased that Care Minister Helen Whately MP has offered to meet to discuss this further. The current funding system is failing people living with MND - if we want real progress, we need to do things differently to pursue transformational research. #UnitedToEndMND"
