Hugh and Alex's Borderline Challenge
Sunday 14 September 2025 to Thursday 18 September 2025
Donegal
Hugh and Alex Addison, a brother and sister duo from King's Meaburn in Cumbria, are taking on a truly extraordinary endurance challenge in September 2025. They are set to cross the British Isles using nothing but human power, a feat that will test both their physical limits and their determination. Their journey will begin at Donegal on Ireland’s Atlantic Coast, where they will cycle across northern Ireland to Donaghadee on the Irish Sea. From there, they will attempt a gruelling swim across the notorious North Channel. After completing the swim, they will continue by bike through southern Scotland’s rugged terrain, before running the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall. Their challenge will come to a close on the North Sea coast at Tynemouth.
The purpose behind this incredible undertaking is just as significant as the challenge itself. Hugh and Alex are raising funds for two causes that are close to their hearts: The My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute (RABI).
Having seen firsthand the impact of MND, they are passionate about contributing to the search for a cure and supporting those affected by the disease. Equally, growing up in a farming family, they feel strongly about raising awareness and funds for mental health initiatives in rural communities.
Their challenge is not just about pushing the boundaries of what is physically possible — it’s about using their efforts to make a meaningful difference for others. For more information and to follow their journey, visit their website: The Borderline Challenge.
