Peter's Route 53 Marching On MND

Peter will be embarking on a cycling challenge starting 26th April 2024 from Land's End to John O'Groats to help raise awareness and funds for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and MND Association. 

Peter will be taking on this challenge in memory of his wife, Maureen.

Peter shared a little of his story with us:

"DO I SOUND OK? Four little words, so simple, but words that would take control of our future lives together. Little did we know then that these words would start our journey into the uncertain and unforgiving world of MND.

MND, a disease that takes and takes again until there is no energy left in both sufferer and carer. After many years of happy marriage these four words indicated the start of our battle against MND, a disease that affects muscle control until such a point that everyday activities such as walking, talking, eating, drinking, and breathing become a struggle. This is my story of how Maureen and I battled against this together!

My advice to anyone on the MND journey is that it is OK to love, to cry, to laugh, to shout, to ask for help…. and when the personal battle is over rejoice in the shared love and memories knowing that you did all you could. Then, accept the challenge, give your support to the MND cause so that others may be saved from having to face this awful disease, and will never hear their loved one say those four little words … ‘Do I sound ok?’"
