Matt Parratt to run the full Hebridean Way in 60 hours
Monday 20 June 2022 to Wednesday 22 June 2022
Butt of Lewis to Vartasay
On Monday 20th June at 5am Matt will start the run at the Butt of Lewis, concluding it on Vartasay at around 5pm on Wednesday 22nd June.
He will cover the full walking route for the Hebridean Way (156miles, 252km). Matt has chosen to add an extra, 71km extension to the Hebridean Way, from the Butt of Lewis to Stornoway, so that he runs the full length of the Western Isles, finishing on Vartasay.
The run is to be completed in 15 sections with only recovery and ferry breaks, Matt will be making full use of the light conditions surrounding the summer solstice to run through the night. If successful this will set a new fastest known time for the route.
Matt has chosen to support two charities in making this run:
- Hebridean Mountain Rescue
- My Name’5 Doddie Foundation – supporting the elimination of Motor Neurone Disease
Matt will have a full support team accompanying him, running/cycling and accompanying him during some of the sections, but he welcomes and encourages anyone, by whatever means, to join him at any point in this incredible feat of dedication, endurance and sportsmanship.
