Ann Allan’s Mouth Paintings

Ann’s Art

Ann Allan, a fervent linguist and modern languages teacher for 32 years at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in August 2023. After rapidly losing the ability to use her limbs and to communicate through speech, she found positivity through art therapy at the Marie Curie Hospice. Ann sadly died in April 2024.

Ever the teacher, Ann’s paintings by mouth encapsulate her ethos for life-long learning of new skills no matter how hard the journey, inspiring friends and family alike. Through the sale of her art, Ann decided to support My Name’5 Doddie Foundation in the charity’s pursuit through research of a world free of MND, and Ann’s family are continuing sales of Ann’s art in her memory.
